Homework 10/26-10/30

6-1:   Quiz Monday 10/26.  No class Friday due to Red Ribbon Week event.
6-2:   We will be learning about "el dia de los muertos" and how it is celebrated in Mexico.  Friday --Dia de los Muertos video worksheet due on Wednesday 11/4.  Extra credit--make pan de muerto for you and your family.
6-3:  Quiz Wednesday 10/28.

7-1:
Tuesday 10/27--Oral presentations today!
Wednesday--10/28 Day of the Dead homework (see below) --choose one of the five options--due Friday 10/30.
Extra-Credit Assignment--make pan de muerto.  Bring in a photo and/or the recipe signed by a parent--due Thursday 11/5.

Tarea- El Día de los Muertos--Write about one of the following topics.  

1)       Compare and contrast Halloween and El Día de los Muertos.  How are Halloween celebrations different from El Día de los Muertos celebrations?  In what ways are they similar?

2)       El Día de los Muertos has often been compared to Halloween but there are many differences.  Why is El Día de los Muertos celebrated in Mexico and Central America?  Why is Halloween celebrated in the United States?

3)     Most cultures honor their departed loved ones in special ways.  Compare and contrast how the dead are honored in Mexico and the United States (or another country of your choice).

4)     Write a poem about El Día de los Muertos.

5)     Write a short story about El Día de los Muertos.


7-2:

Homework for week 10/19-10/25

6th grade--Study your colors and related vocabulary from Mis Primeros Colores.  Flash cards are extra credit--you have the pictures cut out already --glue them to index cards or construction paper and write the Spanish vocabulary words on the back.  

Quiz on  Friday 10/23 for 6-2.
            next Monday 10/26 for 6-1.
         next Wednesday 10/28 for 6-3.
To meet you should know all of your colors and food vocabulary words.  Exceeds--know your other vocabulary words too.

7th Grade -- Mi Familia Oral Presentations --These project timelines that follow are also stapled in the planners.
   Project Timeline:  7-1

Monday 10/19: Read over rubric again and write rough draft of what you will say in Spanish.  Write neatly and skip lines or type and double space.  Hand in tomorrow.  Also for homework is to study for your extended family vocabulary test tomorrow.  Flash cards are extra credit. 

Tuesday 10/20: Rough draft due and Test today!  Bring 3-4 pictures of family members for Thursday.

Thursday 10/22: We will describe our family pictures in class.  Also, your rough draft is returned today with editing marks--make corrections and add any missing information.  Find family pictures to bring in if you didn’t have them last class.  Practice and prepare for your presentation—make index cards if necessary. Reading off of a piece of paper will not be allowed.  Practice, practice, practice!

10/14 - 10/16

6th grade--no homework this week. There will be a quiz on the colors and related vocabulary coming up soon-- next Friday 10/23 for 6-2! Flash cards are extra credit.

7th grade --Wednesday-- all classes have worksheet 60 due tomorrow (Thursday).

Thursday -- 7-2 and 7-3 have a test on the the family vocabulary on Friday. 7-1 has this test on Tuesday. Study and make flash cards for extra credit!

Friday-- 1) Using the rubric for the family oral presentation, write a rough draft of what you will say in Spanish of the required information. Skip lines or double space-- you will hand it in next class--on Wednesday for 7-2 and Tuesday for 7-3. 2) Also bring 3-4 pictures of family member s to use next class--on Wednesday for 7-2 and Tuesday for 7-3. These are necessary for the class activity planned.


8th grade family quiz retakes this week only!

8-1 --Using the rubric for the esqueleto oral presentation, write a rough draft of what you will say in Spanish of the required information. Skip lines or double space-- you will hand it in next class--on Wednesday.
